Straight Up Facts: Ji'Ayir Brown

The moment Ji’Ayir Brown stepped on the field in place of safety Talanoa Hufanga, who tore his ACL in the third quarter of the Week 11 contest vs. the Buccaneers, Brown made an instant impact, recording his first interception of his career.

Brown appeared in 15 regular season games, plus two postseason games in 2023. Entering his second season, the young safety has a chance to make a major impact in the 49ers secondary. Brown recorded 22 solo tackles, 14 assists, and two interceptions. Brown had a solid outing in the biggest game of his young career–the Super Bowl. He recorded seven tackles, four assists, and an interception off Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter of the game.

I fully expect Brown to make a big leap–especially with Hufanga’s leadership and knowledge that he can share with Brown. According to Kyle Shanahan, Hufanga is expected to return from injury during training camp, as reported by Niners Wire.

The 49ers’ safety position should be in good hands once these two young and physical players hit the field together. More depth has been added to the position with the 49ers’ fourth round draft pick, Malik Mustapha.
