Earlier today, Piñeiro was projected to receive a contract of around $4 to $5 million AAV, according to Nick Wagoner. Piñeiro is scheduled to make $4.25 million a year under his new deal with the 49ers.

Piñeiro was a bright spot early this season for the 49ers. After missing his first extra point as a Niner in Week 2, versus New Orleans, he was nearly perfect the rest of the season. Piñeiro had a 96.6 FG%, making 28 of 29 field goals—the only miss was a 64-yard attempt before halftime in Indianapolis. He also posted an 89.5 XP%, making 34 of 38 extra points.

Piñeiro adds reliability, something the 49ers were missing when Jake Moody was kicking in San Francisco. For the first time in a few years, 49ers fans haven’t felt the need to cover their eyes when their kicker lined up for a field goal.

Eddy P quickly established himself as a 49er when he hit the 35-yard game-winner against the Cardinals and was seen yelling, “This is my house” at Arizona’s sideline. It was a refreshing sight to see a 49ers’ kicker have a sense of confidence and spunk about him.

It is only right that the 49ers rewarded Piñeiro with a contract. Not only was he a major contributor in the regular season, but he was the only player to score points for the Niners in the Divisional Round against the Seahawks (6).

He may be a kicker, but this is a huge move for the 49ers going into 2026. Piñeiro assures three points anytime he is on the field, and the 49ers now have that for the next four seasons.

Eddy “Dinero” Piñeiro got paid. Now we wait to see what other moves the Niners make.
